LORD FLEA & HIS CALYPSONIANS - MONKEY
Derrick Harriott did a great ska version of this. I’m sure you’ve all heard it so here’s something you might not have heard.
LORD FLEA & HIS CALYPSONIANS - MONKEY
Derrick Harriott did a great ska version of this. I’m sure you’ve all heard it so here’s something you might not have heard.
Re-uploaded my ‘Oh, Sweet Rocksteady’ compilation! To see what goodies there are you’ll have to download it if didn’t first time around.
DERRICK HARRIOTT - IT’S ALRIGHT
I’ve come to the conclusion that Derrick Harriott is a Jamaican Morrissey. He just never cheers up! Everything’s bittersweet. Poor lad.
DERRICK HARRIOTT - I CARE
When I’m sad I play this and imagine Derrick’s singing it to me…in opposite land! I’m never sad. But Derrick must be. All this sadness and heart felt rocksteady and reggae must mean he’s not the cheeriest of chaps.
I’ll put a cheery one up next…before we all commit suicide.
DERRICK HARRIOTT - BEEN SO LONG
Skinbyrds by DJ Pork Chops. BOOM!
DERRICK HARRIOTT - BEING ON LOVE
Reggae Revival! Sounds like Jackie Mittoo’s jumped on the keys for this number!
DERRICK HARRIOTT - WALK THE STREETS (live)
Reminds me of Patsy Cline’s ‘Walking After Midnight’. Great tune.
DERRICK HARRIOTT - BEING IN LOVE / LOVE VERSION (1972)
I literally cannot express my love for Derrick Harriott. I think I’m in love.
THE CRYSTALITES - BOMBSHELL
Take cover for the skinheads are coming! BOSS REGGAE COME WRECK THE TOWN!
DERRICK HARRIOTT - DERRICK!
I will post this tune for as long as I love! A perfect ska tune to skank and jive and bounce about the place to. Sing along!
DERRRIIIIIIIICK!!!?
DERRICK HARRIOTT - MONKEY SKA
There’s not enough original ska on Tumblr. You should post or submit your own favourites. None of that 3rd wave crap though. I draw the line at that poor excuse for Jamaican influenced music.
DERRICK HARRIOTT - REACH OUT I’LL BE THERE
Even when Harriott wasn’t in the midst of rocksteady greatness he was making his ska hearty and soulful. Courtesy of The Four Tops tune Harriott makes an almost haunting ska tribute.
DERRICK HARRIOTT - DO I WORRY?
God bless Derrick. Check out Scotty’s version.
